Over a span of two weeks, several government agencies' websites were hacked. This is a major cause of alarm, specially with the first fully automated election to be held this May. The Commission on Election has been assuring the public that their system is secure. Unfortunately, with the lack of technical people in Comelec, I have huge doubts that they can fully secure the system. Frankly, they should get white hat hackers to help them out -- but then again, they may be afraid of that, too (just like how they're afraid of complying to the law and releasing the source codes to interested parties).
These incidents are not the first wave. Not too long ago, several government websites were defaced, too. I do not know what measures the government did to ensure that all government websites are not vulnerable, but I guess they all failed.
