Simplify!

Today, information overload is not uncommon - specially with the way information has been streaming, both in text, audio and video, from practically anywhere. Processing all of these takes a lot of effort - organizing, comprehending, sharing, explaining, you name it. So, I have *finally* decided to simplify everything. (no, i have not reached the point of doing everything even whilst in the loo!)

First thing to go are external projects. I do have dozens of projects that are running in parallel. Now I have decided to narrow it down to those that matter a lot - meaning, those that can benefit the Philippines. A majority of these projects have significant research needed so that covers my craving for research.

Next to go is professional blogging. Yeah, been maintaining two blogs and with the way things are happening, I just couldn't keep up. Add to these, the two other personal blogs, a tumblog and my weekly Manila Bulletin column (which is now, btw, twice a week already). Don't worry, the income that will be lost can be covered by the Manila Bulletin. :)

Priority projects are JEDI, Guro, STFAP, and a couple of personal projects that remain secret until one or both get launched. Of course, teaching and training are priorities as well as my kids' education (yeah, home schooling them).

So these are the initial set of tasks that will be dumped. Life is too short to be multi-tasking a whole lot. Earning a lot of money whilst losing a significant part of your life is just not worth it.

Watch this space. :)

haha... i was also contemplating the same thing for the last few weeks. wanna scrap UP projects, JEDI and Guro sana. Mwehehe!

I'd recommend the books (or audiobook) How Full Is Your Bucket by Tom Rath and Donald O. Clifton or the 4-Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferriss although I haven't started reading them yet. How full is just a 2-hour long audiobook.

You might get some ideas on how to further simplify of manage the complexities of the "connected" life nowadays - and share your insights to the world as well. Hehe!

Listened to the "4 Hour Work Week" and that is exactly what I am trying to do. However, with classes taking in more than 8 hours per week, this is close to impossible. :P
